Western Canada’s custom home building star
By Anna Guy
B.C.-based Homestar Building Corporation is a comprehensive, full-service home design, custom home builder and construction partner. But to its clients, it is a trusted, innovative, and award-winning translator of dreams.
Since 2002, Homestar has worked with its clients to build exquisite custom homes. Known for incorporating iconic timber frames in the homes, each Homestar home is a stand-alone masterpiece of indoor and outdoor living.
From the onset of each project, Principal and General Contractor, Chris Meyer, works in close consultation with his clients to interpret their needs and translate their vision. Meyer’s passion for design and construction probably started as a Lego-obsessed child, he jokes. That passion has stayed with him through a career in residential construction. The desire to “put more into the homes I build” was the impetus to start Homestar in 2002, whose roster includes over 120 fine homes in the Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and B.C. area.
Turn-Key Service
Homestar clients are offered a full-suite of services in the construction process which affords a streamlined and enjoyable experience for clients. A continual and open dialogue ensures that clients expectations are exceeded, says Meyer, who guides clients through each phase of construction, clearly and concisely answering all questions and explaining each step along the way.
“My team and I realize that building a custom home is usually the most important undertaking and financial investment my clients and their families can make,” says Meyer. “We take this responsibility very seriously and consider it an honour when our clients trust us with their project.”
Homestar earns that trust by consistently delivering quality homes for clients’ enjoyment and peace of mind. Their homeowners receive a “turn-key” suite of services, including lot selection, legal survey, and exceptional design services procured through its in-house, affiliate company Homestar Designs. Homestar has a dedicated team of hand-selected tradespeople from framing, masonry, plumbing, electrical and more, to complete a process that is greater than the sum of its parts.
To keep up with increased client requests, Homestar recently took on a full-time team member to work with clients on renovations and additions. “We have worked a long time to find the best team for each particular trade,” says Meyer, who adds his team of tradespeople are considered like family.
Cozy and Contemporary
Meyer is known for his incredible eye for detail, and taking ideas to the next level. His 15 years of experience in the building industry has honed his sense of contemporary, yet cozy, style—a trademark of Homestar Homes.
From 8,000- to 18,000-square-foot homes, Homestar clients are building a lifestyle. There are no limits to what Homestar can design into a home. Interested in an F1 Simulator, an indoor luxury car turntable, outdoor pizza oven, or a movie theatre? Homestar has accommodated it all. “It is so enjoyable to open our clients’ eyes to what can be possible,” says Meyer. “They seem very appreciative of the amount of work and innovation that goes into building these homes.”
The building industry recognizes this as well. The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia recently awarded Homestar with a Georgie Award for Most Outstanding Custom Home Valued Between $1,500,000 – $3,000,000 for a family home in North Langley.
“The Georgie Awards continue to be the premier housing awards program in Canada because of the diverse and high-level entries we receive from across British Columbia,” said CHBA BC’s CEO Neil Moody, adding Homestar was recognized for because they “represent the level of quality and professionalism we have come to expect within the residential construction industry in the province.”
Sustainable Luxury
As one of the first builders to focus on sustainability, Homestar is also affiliated with E3 Eco Group, one of the most well respected, sustainable building firms in Western Canada. Homestar’s iconic timber wood frames exemplify the team’s ability to marry sustainability practises with ultimate luxury. “The timber goes into our homes, and then adds a beautiful, organic and luxurious element to the property that is completely unique to each project,” says Shayna Meyer, Marketing Manager.
With an eye for detail and a dedication to quality over quantity, Homestar Building Corporation is a highly sought-after, esteemed building company. Meyer says his passion for building is stronger than ever, and the sense of accomplishment his team gets when they see clients’ families enjoying and appreciating their dream homes is the fruition of his own dreams.
