Another important aspect of
the company’s business phi-
losophy includes enabling
their own employees to grow
with the company.
“We really depend on the
people that we have here to
deliver the projects profes-
sionally and accurately. There
is no doubt that has been the
key to our success. Our focus
is on how to make the team
better and letting people ad-
vance when they are ready
and not holding anyone back,”
says Doug.
He continued, “We empower
our staff to take on greater re-
sponsibility for their projects.
We give them the means and
mentorship to succeed and
then we leave it to them. The
partners and senior staff do a
check-up on a regular basis.
We think we have a system
that works – just the fact that
several of our partners began
their days at S+A as co-op
students is a testament of our
success.”
According to Mladen, as an
industry leader and innova-
tor, one of the goals of S+A
is to “always face new and in-
teresting projects and jobs.”
They like an eclectic range of
projects.
“The reality of our company is
that we cover a wide portion
of the market and we cover
a wide variety of buildings.
Anything from retail, office-
style buildings, hospitals, in-
stitutions such as universities
and colleges, sports centers
such as hockey arenas and
community centers.”
