for staff. The project was
designed with a number of
environmental concerns in
mind and serves as a great
model for future P3s and
partnerships.
Across the country, Ade-
laide Place and Greenwood
Retirement Homes have a
growing presence in south-
ern Ontario. With a new lo-
cation opening in Oshawa,
the mandate remains to stay
focused on providing qual-
ity services to its residents.
Further east in New Bruns-
wick, Route 1 Gateway is
a project put forth by the
federal government and the
provincial government of
New Brunswick. The four-
lane, 240-kilometre high-
way connects St. Stephen
to River Glade, New Bruns-
wick and will establish
trade corridors between the
United States and Atlantic
Canada.
In addition to these ground-
breaking projects, this issue
also highlights the initia-
tives of a number of asso-
ciations. The Vancouver
Regional Construction As-
sociation has been around
(under different names) for
nearly a century. Providing
networking and educational
opportunities for its mem-
bers, the association has
been a crucial facet for those
in the construction industry
in the Vancouver region.
These stories embody what
makes a great business: ef-
fective management and co-
ordination, customer-driven
service, commitment, in-
novation, and developing
a niche. I hope you enjoy
reading about these suc-
cesses. See you in the next
issue.
All the best.
