“It seems natural that the time is right for Inuit to harness and
directly benefit from the natural energy resources available
within each of our communities, our regions and our Terri-
tory.” –Harry Flaherty.
Harry Flaherty, President and CEO of Qikiqtaaluk Corporation
and Group of Companies (QC), is writing a new chapter for
natural energy in Canada’s North. As our feature story this
month, we learn more about one of the Arctic’s most impor-
tant businesses. From one of the biggest employer of First Na-
tion’s people in the region, and a vital partner in government, infrastructure, and institu-
tional agencies, there aren’t many projects in the North without the QC’s participation.
And with the cost of electricity and fuel in Nunavut “no longer acceptable”, Flaherty’s
vision for Canada’s North powered by wind and hydroelectricity may be realized within a
generation.
As 2017 comes to an end, our team would like to thank the men and women whose suc-
cess stories are the backbone of this company. Business Elite Canada donates 10 per cent
of our revenue to charities chosen by the leaders profiled in these pages. This year, we
are proud to say we have contributed to meaningful Canadian charities such as Children’s
Wish Foundation, March of Dimes Canada, Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, Kocihta,
and Big Hearted Mavericks.
Business Elite Canada is proud to profile Canada’s best and brightest. We are equally proud
to work together and give back to charities that are important to you.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
