Owned by real estate developer Wynn
Group of Companies, Wynn Fitness al-
most came about by accident when Lanz
and another business partner inquired
about two of the company’s rental proper-
ties. Switzerland-native Lanz had arrived in
Canada in 1999 with a background in kine-
siology and business, and had spent sev-
eral years in management roles with two
large fitness clubs. Rather than just lease
the Wynn properties, they decided to ap-
proach the organization with a proposal
that would involve Wynn Group as part-
ners in their privately-run fitness business.
