When you work for a magazine called Business Elite Canada, it’s
easy to get acclimatized to speaking with extraordinary people,
people whose contributions to their respective fields have flow
through their community like a capillary wave.
But it is not every day you get the chance to meet one of the
most influential figures in the world, someone whose work has
benefited nearly everyone on earth, and yet whose contribu-
tions may not fully be understood in this lifetime. Steve Woz-
niak came to Toronto for an exclusive talk with Audi Canada,
and not only were we lucky enough to hear him speak, but also speak with him one-on-one,
a conversation we bring to you in this month’s special cover feature.
Now that Spring is in full bloom, have you taken the bike out of the garage yet? Cycling Can-
ada is pushing a new initiative to get more Canadians cycling—and a new strategic plan has
more of our athletes cruising towards victory. We spoke to the new CEO of Cycling Canada
about how they will increase participation in the sport and, ultimately, put more Canadian
cyclists on the Olympic and Paralympic podiums.
We also explored a wave of massive construction projects out west, including the expansion
of the Red Deer Airport (remember that name, you’ll be choosing to fly there instead of larg-
er hubs soon) and the Walterdale Bridge Replacement Project in Edmonton. Construction
in Edmonton is a familiar sight in these past few years. The City has invested $5.5 billion,
concentrating on the downtown core, and this new bridge will be an iconic piece of work
and the new symbol of the city.
We hope you are as inspired by the stories and people in these pages as we are.
