ear ye, hear ye! Quebec’s Liberal
party will form the province’s next
majority government after residents
voted in favour of a better economy, instead
of a controversial referendum - the third of its
kind - which would seek to divide the country’s
French district into its own administration.
The Liberals took 70 of 125 seats, the Parti
Quebecois (PQ) took 30, Coalition Avenir Que-
bec took 22 leaving Quebec Solidaire with
three. The nail-biting election voted against
PQ’s secular values charter, proving that the
majority of Quebeckers want to put to bed is-
sues of separatism, though the minority still
feel that a split country would better econom-
ic relations and French patriotism.
