Dear readers,
As Canada
celebrates its 147
th
birthday, we also celebrate those Cana-
dian-bred businesses that drive our nation forward.
To commemorate
a corporation’s upstanding business practices, De-
loitte has created Canada’s Best Managed Company’s program with
the goal to spread the spirit of ingenuity to all Canadian businesses.
Our exclusive interview with the programs creator, John Hughes, re-
veals the tips of the trade that business leaders can incorporate in
their own corporate cultures.
Graycon Group
, a victor of the Best Managed Company’s Program
who has embarked on its 25th year in the IT consulting industry,
speaks about its prosperous climb to the top. Momentum Technolo-
gies, Agri Marche, ASTOUND and Houle Electric also share the pro-
grams influence on their business strategy, and shed advice for the
next generation of leaders. As well as building an empire of entrepre-
neurs, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program teaches us that
perseverance is key and reminds businesses that to succeed there
must first be struggle.
Though, Canada’s
achievements spreads further than its commercial
merit, but is a nation built on a rich historic foundation. The City of
Charlottetown has had a significant hand in shaping the nation’s past
and Mayor Clifford Lee celebrates Canada’s beginnings as well as re-
joices in the city’s own success as being a hub for tourism.
Also highlighted
this issue are those companies, industry practices
and individuals that epitomize the nation’s growth -- after all, it is the
colourful citizens of our homeland that mould the country to where
it stands today.
Salute
to another 147 years of success!
Until next time,
Mudeeha Yousaf
