KNOWLEDGE FIRST FOUNDATION
For over 50 years, Canadian families relied on Knowledge First Financial to help students realize life’s
possibilities. A firm belief in the value of post-secondary education is what brought together a group of
professionals who formed the company in 1965 and today, Knowledge First Financial is one of the few
RESP providers that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a not-for-profit Canadian corporation.
As a not-for-profit Canadian corporate with no shareholders, Knowledge First Foundation is able to re-
invest net profits in initiatives that support student success. For example, the Foundation supplements
payments to students – to date this amount is almost $50 million.
Scholarships are another example of how the Foundation supports student-focused initiatives. To
broaden the impact, this year Knowledge First partnered with ScholarshipsCanada.com, the country’s
leading aggregator of scholarship information for students, to offer Knowledge First Financial Graduate
Scholarships to any student starting grad school in Sept ’17. This year, 10 recipients received a total of
$120,000 in recognition of their outstanding achievements and exemplary service to community. To
date, the Foundation has awarded $1.4 million in graduate scholarships.
“Scholarships are an important part of making post-secondary education a reality,” said George Hop-
kinson, President & CEO, Knowledge First Financial Inc. “I am extremely pleased about the expanded
program as a way of demonstrating a broader commitment to helping students succeed.”
