$10.4 billion will be through
incremental GST Rebate. As
well, the Building Canada
Fund, consisting of $14 billion
over the next ten years, is a
key component launched in
March for supporting projects
of both national and regional
significance.
The first major project to
receive an application for the
New Building Canada Fund is
the Edmonton Light Rail Tran-
sit System. This sparks the
beginning of projects making
use of the NBC Fund, which
will allow municipalities and
communities across Canada
to take advantage of the con-
struction season and further
improve roads, bridges, sub-
ways, commuter rail`s and
other public infrastructure in
order to boost the nation`s
economy.
Municipalities are being
encouraged to reach out and
contact their Provincial gov-
ernments to discuss and sub-
mit their projects for funding
consideration.
